Milborne Sports Football Club wins Dorset County Football Association Standard Chartered Club of the Year award.

Milborne Sports received a real feather in it’s cap for all the hard work it has done in developing football at the Lane End site.

Whilst this is a club award, a large part of this achievement is down to the tremendous growth made in the youth section with up to 100 children now regularly receiving coaching from fully qualified CRB checked volunteer coaches and with four youth teams entered in Dorset Football Leagues, the Football Association have recognised this tremendous growth.

The head of youth development, David Stevens, expressed his thanks to all concerned from committee, groundsman and of course various coaches.  A terrific achievement this year has been the qualification of two level 2 coaches, a course where the individual is required to spend an intensive week on a course.

The course is attended by many professional footballers who are seeking to find coaching roles in football.  It is a great achievement that Grant Taylor and Simon Harrison have both achieved this level 2 qualification.

The Future

Whilst we are delighted with the progress we have made, we are not complacent. We are keen even more youngsters to join us from the age of 5 upwards to be coached in a safe environment by qualified coaches who are all CRB checked.

If you wish to find out more how you can participate then please contact David Stevens on

We hope to have pictures of the award ceremony at which Milborne received the shield in recognition of it’s achievements in developing participation of football in the rural community.
