June 2009
Outing to Milestones Museum, Basingstoke
GOING back in time was both interesting and enjoyable as 47 of us
descended on Basingstoke. We had quite a few laughs during the day,
especially when going into the backyard of a Victorian house. There were
shrieks, as someone (who shall remain nameless) opened one of the doors
that were in the backyard to discover the figure of a man sitting on the
toilet reading the paper. Thankfully, the figure was not real although
he did, at first glance, look life-like.

Wednesday Social Club - Grand Fashion Show - May 2009 THE committee and members of the Milborne St. Andrew Wednesday Social Club would like to thank all those who supported the above event and made it such a fun evening.
Wednesday Social Club - Cider with
Josie Josie and John
Wright very kindly came to our Wednesday meeting at short notice. Peter
Lindsley from age concern had car trouble and had to postpone his visit
to later in the year. Many thanks to
Josie and John, for a very interesting talk on how cider is made besides
giving us a taste of real Scrumpy Cider. They showed us slides of how
the good old boys produced their brew. A few of us went
home with flushed faces and all of us enjoyed the afternoon. Next Month, First
of April, A.G.M. followed by a Presentation from Margaret Hanniball,
representing the Charity Mosaic. All welcome and please bring a friend Eve Richardson Wednesday Social Club - February Report The
Milborne St Andrew Wednesday Social Club would like to thank Peter
Robinson who kindly came along to our February meeting to talk about
gemstones. It was a very informative talk where Peter explained
the origins of many types of precious and semi-precious stones.
I’m sure we all came away happy with the knowledge that whatever stones
you have they are equally precious to you if you like them, regardless
of their value. Many thanks Peter. Hilary Daffern |

Wednesday Social Club New Years Party
We
had a very
enjoyable afternoon at the village hall. We thought the cakes were
never-ending! One thing we were puzzled about – we could not find any
plates! We eventually found a few and managed to feed everyone!
Deana gave us a few wonderful songs and some of us even joined in! We
had a competition based on “Who’s Who” around the room, and a
“brainteaser” questionnaire on the tables.
We had so much food that everybody went home with a “doggy bag” with
many smiles on happy faces!
We hope everybody enjoyed themselves and hope to see a lot more people
at our next meeting on the first Wednesday in February when Peter
Robinson will give us a talk on precious gemstones. We hope this will
interest you and encourage you to come along!
